Cinnamon
Aside from being used in cookery and sprinkled on top of coffee, cinnamon is used in aromatherapy and medicinally thanks to its wealth of health benefits. Known for its warm, zingy flavour, research shows that cinnamon oil has antioxidant, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. It has been known to be used as far back as Ancient Egypt when it was a rare and valuable ingredient. Now, it is more widespread, however its rich health benefits still make cinnamon oil a spice to be highly valued.
At anatomē, we use cinnamon oil in our Focus + Concentration Essential Oil blend. Inhaling cinnamon oil has been shown to boost short term memory and performance, as well as improving attention, memory, and visual-motor speed.
We also use cinnamon oil in our Rest, Relax + Sleep Loose Tea Blend. Cinnamon can help to balance blood sugar levels, meaning that it can significantly reduce the blood sugar spikes that can disrupt our sleep. Cinnamon also helps to relax tired muscles, build immunity, boost metabolism, and aid digestion.
