Native from Europe, this plant can be found all over the world. Elderberry is considered a superfood, not only because of the high Vitamin C content, but also because of its antioxidant and anti-inflammatories phenolic compounds including phenolic acids, flavanols and anthocyanins. Elderberry is typically used for treating cold and flu. In a study with 64 people found that taking elderberry extract for two days resulted in significant improvement in flu symptoms, including fever, headache, muscle aches and nasal congestion, after just 24 hours.
